Chandigarh 08th December:- PGI appeals to the people of this region to register themselves online before visiting the OPDs so that they save time in getting the card made. For new patients online registration is the best way to start with at the OPD counter. Online registration is done in the following OPDs i.e. Advanced Eye Centre, Dermatology, DDTC, ENT, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Oral Health Sciences, Paediatric Medicine, Paediatric Orthopedics, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Psychiatry and Urology. From March 2015 till date around 11,000 online registrations have been done. Daily out of 8,000-9,000 registrations about 2500 are new which can easily be done online. This would not only save time of the patients but also ensure capturing of accurate data. Online registration is convenient and can be done through a lap top, I-pad, PC and even a mobile phone.
This user friendly system is available on the Institute website (http://pgimer.edu.in) for the first time visitors to PGIMER. Patients can register themselves for a visit to the specified departments on a chosen date in the next one week. After filling in a small amount of information, a Pre-Registration number is sent to their registered Mobile Number and E-mail ID. By presenting this number at the special registration counter in the above departments on the chosen day, an OPD card with a unique and permanent patient CR number will be generated within a minute. This permanent CR number will be used by the patient for all subsequent visits to the hospital irrespective of the department/OPD. If the patient does not come to the OPD on the chosen day, they will have to re-register on the web.
PGI also requests all patients to register their mobile numbers & email addresses so that PGI can contact them if necessary. These data also allow the patients to access the test reports on internet in a secure fashion.
