Chandigarh 20th November:- World Philosophy Day, a UNESCO initiative that draws people around the world to engage in shared reflection on contemporary issues witnesses the joint participation of colleges from across the tricity in various events spread over a week to mark the day. The Department of Philosophy, MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized a PowerPoint Presentation Competition in which the students presented papers on the theme 'Understanding Philosophy.'
The thought- provoking papers by MCM students highlighted the importance of the discipline that encourages critical and independent thought and is capable of working towards a better understanding of the world to promote mutual tolerance and peace. The students had also been a part of the lecture series organized by the Department of Philosophy, Punjab University, Chandigarh during which, eminent academicians like Prof Gopal Guru of JNU, Delhi and Prof. Milind Wakankar, IIT, Delhi imparted the students with positive insight into important contemporary issues.
The Principal of MCM, Dr. Nisha Bhargava applauded the endeavor and encouraged the students to open their minds to new ideas to confront the challenges facing the globalized world.
