Chandigarh 26th October:-Kiran Choudhry, Leader of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party (CLP), has flayed the BJP Government for not taking action to protect the lives of Dalits in the state who are either being hounded or forced to commit suicide.
In a statement issued here today, the former Excise and Taxation Minister, referred to the incident in which Dalit Badan Singh committed suicide in Bhatla village in Hisar district. A key witness to the murder of his nephew Gurbachan Singh early this month, he was allegedly under pressure from the police not to identify the perpetrators of the crime. Gurbachan was found hanging from a tree at Chainat village on October 8.
Kiran Choudhry regretted that this is indeed a sorry state of affairs. Every day one Dalit is either killed or is forced to commit suicide. Badan's case comes close on the heels of two Dalit kids being burnt alive in Faridabad and 14-year-old Govinda getting killed in Gohana. Instead of taking action against the accused and moving fast to protect the Dalits, the BJP Government is busy celebrating its one-year rule.
