NIIFT Presents Annual Craft Documentation & Exhibition

Chandigarh 11th September:- Fashion Design Department of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology presented its Annual Craft Documentation/exhibition in its campus today. Craft documentation forms an integral part of the curriculum of Fashion Design Department.  The students of the department undertake an extensive study of crafts and then document the rich and diverse aesthetic heritage of various places of our country. The survey enables the students to interact with the craftsmen in their habitat and get the first hand knowledge of the art and crafts.

This summer in the month of July, students went to the state of Rajasthan. The Class was divided into 5 groups and each group consisted of 10 students. Jaipur, Sanganer, Ajmer and Pushkar were the target areas for craft survey. The groups were guided by Madan Lal, Assistant Registrar/Assistant professor, Fashion Design Department and Rajinder Sharma, Supporting staff.

The craft documentation was duly supported by NIIFT's Director K.S Brar, Registrar Inderjeet Singh and HOD,Fashion Design Department Gobind Rai and mentors Madan Lal, , Dr. Simrita Singh, Ms. Deepti Sharma, Dr. Poonam Aggarwal.

 Mrs. Seema Jatiely from Home Science College, Sector 10, Chandigarh was amongst the external jury members.

Rajasthan is the place where lies the true India. The history of India is still living in ancient forts, palaces, fortresses and monuments taking us back to back to what India was once. Often the luxury that is offered by these monuments is unmatched anywhere in the world.
