PGI Otolaryngologist as Visiting Observer at UPENN

Chandigarh 19th August:-Dr  Jaimanti  Bakshi , Additional  Professor  in the Department of Otolaryngology & Head Neck surgery  at PGI Chandigarh   attended  the2nd International Transoral  Robotic Surgery  (TORS ) conference at the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN) at Philadelphia, USA.  She was a special invitee to this international conference and presented a poster on  " Early diagnosis of  recurrent  differentiated  thyroid cancer  using PET-CT vs whole body radio-iodine scan and USG neck". 

After the conference she joined as Visiting  Observer for the TORS  program  under Professor Gregory  Weinstein at the same hospital in the department of Otolaryngology &Head Neck surgery for one  week   and  had the chance to closely observe the   live robotic surgery  for  tongue and tonsils cancers as well as laryngeal cancers 

She also observed the Transoral Robotic surgeries on cadavers in the cadaver dissection laboratory at UPENN. She also observed the patients of head& neck cancer in the OPDs. Thereafter, she went to visit some nursing homes for psychologically challenged patients being run by Therapeutic Residential Services Inc.. Concord, California under supervision of Dr Harmesh Kumar,President TRS Inc.and  also one Primary  health care center in Fresno,  California, ALTA Family Health center being run by Dr Kuldeep  Thusu, who is the CEO for that center. She visited and interacted with the faculty of Audiology & Speech Therapy   at California State University at Fresno, USA.  She saw the new infra-red system of hearing for the deaf patients which is a very advanced hearing system. This international visit of D Jaimanti Bakshi would prove very useful for  PGI.
