AIHM Starts Four weeks Tourism Police Training Programme

Chandigarh 01st July:- A Four weeks Tourism Police Training Programme for the Chandigarh police personnel has been started today at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management in collaboration with Chandigarh Police. 30 Police officials are attending this programme. This programme aims at enhancing the effectiveness of Police in dealing with the tourists as well as general public. The Training Programme was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief guest Anurag Aggarwal , IAS, Home Secretary and Secretary Tourism, Chandigarh Administration. A.S. Cheema ,IPS , DIG- UT Chandigarh, Mrs. Bharti Tyagi , Principal AIHM Chandigarh and Krishan Kumar, Dy. SP- Training & Lines were present in this inaugural function.

The chief guest addressed the trainees and shared his views . He said that this initiative is driven by the vision to see Chandigarh, the City Beautiful, develop to a level where its tourists can experience the hospitality in a safe & secure friendly environment. The potential has always been here in the city. The role is to ensure that the police personnel should instill the soft skills & guide the tourists so that it leads to the image building at a global level resulting in recurring tourist inflow for the city.

A.S. Cheema, IPS, DIG-UT also motivated the trainees and appreciated the initiatives taken by the Institute for imparting this training.

 Mrs. Bharti Tyagi , Principal of the Institute welcomed the Chief guest and dignatories and highlighted the course contents which are to be covered during the training programme.She said that we have already successfully trained two batches of tourism police personnel in the past. This is the third such program which is intended to address the needs of our tourists who travel long distances to reach our destination & experience the totality of the Indian culture, traditions, and gastronomic creations in a fully safe hospitable environment. The aspects like importance of personal grooming, hygiene & sanitation, behavior, communication skills, complaint handling, etiquettes and mannerism, human values, use of polite and courteous language, some common parlance phrases in various foreign languages in dealing with public and tourists, will be covered in the training programme. It shall also be emphasizing on the range of tourists spots in and around the city beautiful.
