US Ambassador To Interact with CII Punjab Members

Chandigarh 19th May:- To boost business ties between Punjab and USA, Richard R Verma who is serving as the 25th United States Ambassador to India is all set to interact with the members of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Punjab State Council on 21st May at a session on Promoting India – US Partnership in Business & Industry being organised by CII at Jalandhar during his upcoming visit to Punjab under the US Embassy's outreach programme – US to go.

 Through the CII session with the key industry representatives from Punjab, Mr Verma would elaborate on the key strengths of USA and the potential areas in which the tie ups, partnerships and Joint Ventures (JVs) can be entered into between the industry from Punjab and their counterparts in USA. He would also dwell on the key upcoming sectors and segments in which there is immense scope of cooperation, learning and sharing of best practices between the USA and Punjab.

Richard R Verma would try to portray USA as an ideal investment hub and encourage the regional industry to expand their businesses in USA.

Pikender Pal Sigh, Regional Director, CII NR said that he would be assisted and accompanied by Paul Frost and Ms Robyn Kessler,senior officers from the US Embassy, who would showcase their best practices, the ease of doing business in US and the key advantages of setting up business units or expanding business in USA. In addition to attracting investments from Punjab, they would also strive to understand more about the issues and challenges being faced by the Punjab industry while importing from or exporting to USA. He added that CII is also organising a special plenary on Indo - US Partnership in Travel, Tourism & Education as part of the session to open the avenues of partnerships between Punjab and USA in these critical fields.

Another key highlight of the session would be a detailed presentation giving insights on the U.S. Visa Procedures for business, study or work purposes by Mr AshokKaul from Visa section, US Embassy Officer. This would help in better understanding of the standards and key factors to be considered while applying for a US visa.
