Punjab National Bank Holds SLBC

Chandigarh 13th May:- 132nd meeting of SLBC Haryana was held today at Hotel Mount View, Sector 10, Chandigarh.  P.K. Das, IAS, Principal Secretary, Finance, Govt. of Haryana was the Chief Guest of the Meeting. The meeting was chaired by Gauri Shankar, Managing Director & CEO of Punjab National Bank. Devender Singh, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Haryana, Vijendra Kumar, IAS, Spl Secretary, Revenue, Haryana, Ashok Yadav, IAS, Director General, Social Justice & Empowerment, Haryana, Anjani Mishra, DGM, RBI, Chandigarh, R.K.Garg, General Manager, NABARD, Haryana, Dr. B.M. Padha, Convener, State Level Bankers' Committee, Haryana, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, General Manager, PNB, HO, New Delhi, Senior Officers of the State Govt. and Controlling Heads of the Banks operating in the State of Haryana were among those who attended the meeting.

Guari Shankar, the Chairman SLBC briefed the house about the 3 Social Security Schemes i.e. 1).Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Accident Insurance Scheme offering accidental death and disability cover for death or disability on account of an accident to all saving bank account holders in the age group of 18-70 years on payment of annual premium of Rs.12/-,2).Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)- Insurance Scheme offering life insurance cover for death due to any reason on annual premium of Rs.330/- and 3). Atal Pension Yojana (APY)-providing guaranteed pension of Rs.1000/-Rs.2000/-Rs.3000/-Rs.4000/-Rs.5000/- to the beneficiaries. These schemes were launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister on 09.05.2015. Shri Shankar informed the house that 1240702 persons have been enrolled by banks under PMSBY and PMJJBY in the State of Haryana. Guari Shankar briefed the house of the following announcements made by RBI in the Ist Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy Statement for the year 2015-16 on 7th April 2015:-

Chairman SLBC Guari Shanker said that unseasonal rains and hailstorms in the State of Haryana have caused severe distress to the farmers. The relief measures to be provided to the affected farmers/people were approved in a Special Meeting of SLBC Haryana convened on 07.04.2015. He requested the State Government to provide list of eligible farmers/villages enabling the banks to provide them necessary relief as per RBI guidelines. 

 The Chairman of the meeting informed that 21 RSETIs/RUDSETIs are working in the state. 58057 trainees including 30346 women & 347 handicapped persons participated in 2024 training programmes of Skill Development at these RSETIs. 7793 trainees were financed by the banks to start their enterprises. About Financial Literacy Centres it was informed that 91 FLCs are providing Financial Education to the public in the State and during the year ended March, 2015 (2014-15), 3185 camps were organized in which 150823 persons participated. He laid focus on educating the borrowers about the timely repayment of bank dues. He also requested the State Govt. to help the banks in the early settlement of 20978 Recovery Certificatesinvolving  706.22 Crore pending as at March, 2015.

P.K.Das, IAS, Principal Secretary, Finance & Planning, Haryana in his address appreciated the role of SLBC in effective implementation of the policy decision taken in the meetings for the overall development of the state. He further said that there is ample potential for the growth of MSME in the state and the implementation of national and state policies in right earnest would lead to the growth of this sector.
