MCM DAV College Holds its 43rd Annual Convocation

Chandigarh 03rd April:- MCMDAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized its 43rd Annual Convocation today. Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Hon'ble Governor of Haryana, Punjab and Administrator of U.T., Chandigarh was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Around 1064 (184 PG and 880 Graduates) students became the proud awardees of degrees in various post graduate and graduate streams. More than 33 special prizes for outstanding achievements in the P.U. annual examinations were also given away. Yati Bedi, Sanjam Davar and Shiney Vashisht was the recipient of the Roll of Honour for securing the first position in Panjab University in M.A. – II (English), M.A. – II (Psychology) and M.A. – II (Sociology) respectively. They were also given a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/ each. It is commendable that the First Positions for M.A.-II in English, Sociology and Psychology went to students of MCM and 88 TOP TEN and 22 TOP THREE positions in the Panjab University examination went to students of the college.

In keeping with the MCM tradition of nurturing bonds between the teacher and the taught, some of the illustrious alumnae of the college were honoured. Among these were Late Ms. Vandana Malik, IPS (posthumously),  Ms. Veena Kumar, Management Consultant, Ms. Bani Dhillon, Film Industry, Ms. Pooja Sharma, Mass Media, and Ms. Rohini Dewan, H.R. CafĂ© Coffee Day, North India.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki lauded the college for its unsurpassed performance in varied fields and hailed the college as a centre of holistic education and leaning. He expressed that it was an honour for him to be present at the Convocation Ceremony of an illustrious institution such as MCM and appreciated the exquisite performance of the students in diverse fields. While blessing the degree holders, he said that with MCM as a foundation for quality education, the future of our country is indeed a glorious one. 

Principal Dr. Puneet Bedi read out the Annual Report of the college, highlighting the new milestones achieved by the institution. She congratulated the degree holders and exhorted them to not only maintain the ethical and intellectual standards inculcated in them as part of their training at MCM DAV, but also to emerge as enabled and empowered women who would make positive difference to the society.
