MCM Organise National Seminar on Trend in Animal Behaviour Research

Chandigarh 02nd March:- The department of Zoology of MCM College for Women, Chandigarh organized a National Seminar cum workshop on Trends in Animal Behaviour Research sponsored by College Development Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Co-sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi.

The national seminar commenced with the inaugural address of the chief guest Prof. M.S. Johal, UGC Emeritus Fellow, Department of Zoology, Panjab Unviersity, Chandigarh. Prof Johal elaborated on Biodiversity conservation. The keynote address by Prof. Mewa Singh, Mysore University, Mysore highlighted the ecology and evolution of animal behavior with particular reference to lion-tailed macaque of the western ghats. Dr. A.J. Urfi, Delhi University, Dr. N.G. Prasad, IISER, Mohali and Dr. Rhitoban Ray Choudhury, IISER, Mohali were other speakers at the seminar.

At this occasion a workshop on "Behavioural Dynamics of Drosophila" was conducted by Dr. N.G. Prasad from IISER, Mohali and inter college competition on poster presentation on various topics of Animal Behaviour were also held. The students of all science stream enthusiastically participated in the seminar. The guest's were all praises for their zeal.

Applauding the endeavour, Dr. Puneet Bedi, the Principal of MCM DAV College said that such platforms encourage students to develop a temperament for research and pragmatic learning.
