Girls Showcase Talent in ‘Being Me’ Competition

Chandigarh 11th October:- Rotary Club of Chandigarh celebrated  the International Day of the Girl Child at Rotary House today with the theme of 'Being Me'. The girl students from MCM DAV College, DAV 10 and Rotaract Club of Chandigarh joined in various competition rounds on grooming, talent, intelligence and general awareness, which was adjudged by a panel of judges. About 35 girls participated in this event. Rotary Club of Chandigarh had launched a project 'Hamari Beti' way back in 2008 under which various activities are conducted regularly, informed Pres. Prof Paramjit Singh.

The chairman of the programme, Rtn. Neenu Vij said that 11th October has been declared by UN as the International Day of the Girl Child to recognize girls' rights and the unique challenges they face around the world, especially in our country. On this day we show our love and respect to them and also take pride in their overall developments. The concept of 'Being Me' was to make the girls realize the immense potential they have as individuals and encourage them by commending their talent and intelligence.

 

Mrs. Harjeet Kaur, the first lady of the Club was the chief guest of the function and gave away the prizes. President Prof. Paramjit Singh, said that Rotary is engaged in facilitating adolescent girls engagement in civic, and economic life by grooming their leadership abilities.
