Chandigarh 02nd August:- With a vision to laud the various hues of womanhood, MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized the Freshers Day marking the culmination of a week-long induction program which began with the Havan. Two eminenet guests Parvinder Singh, Controller of Examinations, Punjab University, Chandigarh and Dr. Naval Kishore, Dean, College Development Council, Punjab University adorned the occasion. Various other distinguished guests and dignitaries were also present. Through a plethora of enthralling activities and entertaining performances the MCM sorority welcomed the new members. Flamenco, a Spanish dance form, western contemporary dance and traditional foot tapping performances vowed the audience.
The highlight of the event was the Ms. Freshers Contest. Mehak was all smiles on being crowned as Ms. Fresher 2014-15 while Gazelle and Gursheen were the 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. Besides these, various titles complimenting the diverse virtues of womanhood were given away. Hasrat became Ms. Graceful Walk while Hasveen was Ms. Confidence. The beautifully styled tresses of Saumya bagged her the title of Ms. Stylish Hair while the captivating smile of Gurnoor was adjudged the most Charming Smile. Ms. Glowing skin was Preeti. The mesmerizing traditional dress of Akshpreet was adjudicated as Best Attire (Indian) and the title of Best Attire (Western) went to Sanya.
The Guests motivated the students to take exceptional pride in being a student of MCM and to make the most of this journey. Prof. Naval Kishore also congratulated the College for being the first colleges to have adhered to the Supreme Court Directive of completing the series of induction program within first 3 weeks of inception of the session.
Dr. Puneet Bedi, the Principal of the College remarked, that appreciating a woman is a unique way of empowering her. MCM will continue to infuse in the students the virtues and values that make a woman beautiful on the inside.
