World Population Day 2014:Chandigarh Administration is Celebrating It With The Theme of “Niyojit Parivar Khushiyan Aapar”

Chandigarh 03rd July:- Chandigarh Administration is going to celebrate World Population Day with the theme of "Niyojit Parivar Khushiyan Aapar" and observing fortnight (Mobilisation Fortnight 1st July 2014- 10th July 2014, and Stabilisation Fortnight 11th July 2014- 24th July 2014). World Population Day is being celebrated for creating awareness amongst the public regarding family planning and motivating them to adopt small family norms through Health talks, Counseling and by Holding Camps and Rallies. The overall objective is to put emphasis on the importance of family planning and to reduce the consequent issues arising from the increasing population by making them aware of the hidden disaster of population explosion. Family Planning is promoted through informed choice for Contraception by appropriate information of the beneficiary by the service providers/Health functionaries. Family Planning is important alternative measure to reduce maternal, new born death due to Unsafe, Unwanted pregnancies. Further leading to unwanted, unsafe repeated abortion and likely complication. Like every year, U.T. Chandigarh shall be conducting activities to involve the masses and organization to help India to achieve population stabilisation.

In this regard a Rally was organized by Department of Health and Family Welfare, U.T. Chandigarh at Manimajra. On this occasion Officers/Officials, field staff of Health Department, Aanganwari workers and school students from GMSSS-Manimajra participated.
