Chandigarh 03rd July:- To sensitize the healthcare professional and coordinators of New ADR monitoring centres (AMCs) about the Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacovigilance Centre & Regional training and Resource Centre, PGI, Chandigarh organized a one day CME on pharmacovigilance and coordinators. The CME cum coordinators meeting was organized by Pharmacovigilance centre, PGI, Chandigarh under the aegis of World Health Organization (WHO), Country office for India and Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.
The CME on Pharmacovigilance addressed the need of reporting of adverse events due to drugs, WHO programme for International drug monitoring, policies and standards in pharmacovigilance. The programme started with an introductory speech on WHO program of drug monitoring by Dr. Madhur Gupta, WHO, Country Office for India, New Delhi. Dr. Dinesh Badyal, Christian Medical College, Ludhiana highlighted the scope of pharmacovigilance and Dr. Puneet Dhamija, AIIMS, Rishikesh gave an informative talk on pharmacovigilance methods and effective pharmacovigilance system in India. Dr. Kalai Selwan, National Scientific Officer-PvPI, IPC, briefed the role of National Coordinating centre in PvPI. This was followed by a talk by Dr. Bikash Medhi, Additional Professor, PGI on causality assessment of adverse drug reactions. The meeting of coordinators of new ADR monitoring centre has been taken place to discuss about the effective tools, methods and progress of pharmacovigilance program of India (PvPI) in North zone and the way to harmonize the working of pharmacovigilance hand in hand. The CME programme was attended by around 40 participants from various AMCs.
