Chandigarh 20th March:-- To observe world head injury awareness day on March 20,a head injury awareness program was held at New OPD Block, PGIMER by National Institute of Nursing Educations (NINE) in collaboration with Department of Neurosurgery, PGIMER. Incidence of head injury is rapidly increasing with urbanization and increased vehicular population. Loss of young people at their productive age due to this nightmare is a great loss for family as well as for the country.
The program was organized to focus the attention on injury prevention and raise the issues related to road safety. Students of NINE interacted with the public gathered in OPD and warned them about the impact of head injury and educated on its prevention with special focus on youngsters, children and elderly. They emphasized on following traffic rules and the use of safety devices like helmet and seat belt for the drivers and passengers. It was an opportunity for public to clarify their doubts.
To empower the patents of head injury and their caregivers, health teaching, sessions were also conducted. Students and public participated with enthusiasm.
