MCM DAV Organise Annual Prize Distribution

Chandigarh 08th March:-- To acknowledge the unending array of achievements that make MCM proud, the college organized a prize distribution function to honor and encourage a total of 435 students for their excellent contribution in academics, cultural activities and sports. The chief guest at the occasion was Upmanyu Basu, IRS, Secretary (I/c)/ Financial Advisor, University Grants Commission, New Delhi while Sh. Sandeep Hans, PCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh presided over the function. Various members of the DAV fraternity and principals of DAV institutions from across the tricity were present as special guests. Proud parents of the prize winners also attended the occasion.

The event began with the annual report presentation by the Principal of the college, Dr. Puneet Bedi. The report encompassed the record of exceptional accomplishments of the college in the academic year. To inspire the academic achievers cash prize and trophies worth 2.5 lacs, college colours, special prizes and trophies were awarded. Nishi Gupta and Aakriti Sharma were awarded the roll of honor for their outstanding performance in academics while Simrat Saini bagged the roll of honours for overall best performance in extra curricular activities. For her excellent achievement in sports, Pooja was awarded the Rahul Sharma Memorial Prize and B.R. Marwaha Award for being the best yogi.

Numerous special prizes and college colours were also awarded to the students for unparalleled accomplishments in various fields. Puneet Virk secured the Special prize for NSS activities while Kirti, Khushboo and Suman were bestowed with special honours for their achievements in the NCC. It was a proud moment for all as Geetika Singh (PCS), Shivani Gupta (PCS), Anu Dhingra, Principal Smart Wonders School, Gayatri Suri, Environmental Activist and Chavvi Goel, a Propreitor were felicitated during the alumna felicitation ceremony for making their alma mater proud. Various teachers of the college were also felicitated for their achievements. The annual newsletter was also unveiled at the occasion by the honorable chief guest. The guests also honored the college teams for their exquisite performance at the zonal and inter-zonal youth festivals.

The prize winners were all smiles as they held their prizes. Inspiring the students to undertake humane endeavors, MCM Rotaract Club donated a sum of Rs. 65000/- to Rotary Heartline Project, an initiative to support the surgical cure and care of needy heart patients from the South- East Asian region. The guests and dignitaries applauded the commendable performance and enthusiasm shown by the students the chief guest said, “A woman, in her lifetime, effectuates multiple responsibilities” and voicing the famous adage that goes educating a woman means educating a society, inspired them to enhance their persona to be able to make a better society.

The Principal of the college Dr. Puneet Bedi congratulated the prize winners and applauded their untiring spirit to achieve.
