Chandigarh 28th February:-- National Institute of Nursing Education organised a Health Mela in collaboration with School of Public Health ,PGIMER Chandigarh and Haryana Health Department at village Batour Barwala (Panchkula) . The theme of the health Mela was ‘SwasthNariSwasth Bharat’. The main focus was Women and Child Health. The Health Mela was inaugurated by sarpanch of the village. The total of 160 patients attended the health camp.
The main services provided in the Health mela were health examination, immunisation, screening for hypertension and blood glucose level, routine blood examination like haemoglobin estimation, random blood sugar, HIV, VDRL, urine albumin and sugar, health education, Blood pressure measurement, anthropometric measurements, medical examination, medicines and referral services. A regular health education sessions were organised in Mela. The topics covered were antenatal care, postnatal care, and prevention of malnutrition, preparation of nutritious ladoo, prevention of non communicable diseases, lifestyle changes, and personal hygiene. The health team included doctors from School of Public Health and nursing students from NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh, ANM’s, ASHA and Anganwadi workers and technicians from PHC Barwala. Mela was organised in the supervision of Dr. Shankar Prinja, Assistant professor, School of Public Health and Dr. Sushma Saini, Lecturer, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh.
