Chandigarh 13th February:---- The Department of Chemistry of MCM College for Women Chandigarh organized a National Seminar on ‘Expanding Horizons : Interdisciplinary approach to Chemistry’. Sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, under the Star College Scheme. Various illustrious delegates from Panjab, Haryana, Himachal and the tricity participated in this National Seminar which was a superlative attempt to address the need of interdisciplinary approach to chemistry to minimize the vacuum. It explored the ways to enliven the communication to make it resonate with the no specialist audience.
The seminar kicked off with the keynote address by Dr. Padma Kumar Nair, Director of Thapar University and an eminent researcher and management consultant. He highlighted the role of management education in augmenting the functioning and working of chemist and physicists. Another distinguished speaker at the seminar was Yuvraj, an electronics and communication engineer and Head Marketing and Innovation Evangelist at the relationship between chemistry and innovative move making techniques during his address at the seminar.
After the enlightening address, a workshop with a difference took place. The student belonging to various streams such as history, literature, sociology, science, fine arts and cosmetology were shown two famous paintings. These students thereafter scrutinized the paintings from the point of view of their respective disciplines.
The Principal of the college, Dr Puneet Bedi appreciated the industrious endeavor and stressed upon the growing need of symbiotic association and close knot function of various disciplines in present times.
