Tree plantation drive in Sector 56:Residents pledge to save the saplings

Chandigarh 06th August:-- A tree plantation drive was started off in the in sector-56 on Tuesday by Municipal Councilor (MC) Darshan Kumar Garg. Hundreds of saplings were planted during the drive. A function was also organized on the occasion. Speaking on the sidelines of the function, Garg said that the drive was started that so that the green cover in the area could be increased in the area. He also said that his plan is to make sector-56 as the area having maximum number of trees. Darshan Kumar Garg urged the residents of the area to come forward to adopt the trees so that their safety could be ensured. Darshan Kumar Garg also assured the residents of the area that the problem of parking will be solved in the coming few months time." The parks will also be beautified," said Garg. Hundreds of saplings were also planted during the occasion. The plants, mostly medicinal, will be beneficial for the residents. The residents also pledged to protect the saplings.  Naved Ahmed, President of Youth Congress of the area said that the plantation drive will be taken forward and the members of the youth brigade will plant as many siblings as they can to make the area green.  The other members including Sunita Yadav, Santosh Kumari, Manju Rao, Gurmeet Singh, Somnath Rana, Ahmed Ali, KM Rao, Jaspal Singh and Moin Khan were also present during the occasion.
