Sensitization of Health Workers to combat vector/ water borne diseases.

Chandigarh, 05th July:--In-house training of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM's) has been started in batches under Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme and National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme in U.T., Chandigarh. The session was inaugurated by officiating Director Health Services Dr. PardeepTayal and was chaired by Dr. Naresh Sharma and Coordinated by Dr. Vandna Dewan

The first batch of Health Workers rendering services in the Health Facilities near Urban Slums/ Colonies, etc. are made to undertake the said sensitization training in order to bring awareness among the residents residing in the slum/ colonies/ villages of U.T., Chandigarh in order to check the spread of these diseases.

The stress was laid to ensure that the residents consume clean and safe water supplied by the Municipal Corporation.Do not allow the water to stagnate in any form which can be source for breeding mosquitoes. Drain out all water in and around their premises and in case the source of stagnant water cannot be drained the same be covered with by adding kerosene oil, etc. to avoid breeding.The water from the coolers should be drained atleast once a week and the bottom of the coolers should be scrubbed to remove the source.The residents should avoid consuming water from the hand-pumps and preferably should boil and cool water before drinking. Do not consume cut fruits/ over ripe fruits/ vegetables.The patients should report to the nearest Health Facility in case of any symptoms of water/ vector borne diseases.
