Chandigarh, Dec.12, 2024:--UT girls registered their third win out of five matches by defeating Puducherry by five wickets at the ongoing Women's Senior ODI tournament being played at Sultanpur on Thursday. While chasing down the target of 217, Chandigarh finished the show at the loss of five wickets in 47th over.
Earlier, Chandigarh won the toss and decided to field first. A century knock from Sonal (112) helped Puducherry to post 216/8. Anika Kumaresan scored an unbeaten 26. Rajni Devi (2/30), Kumari Shibi (2/45) and Nandini Sharma (2/46) shared two wickets each. In reply, Chandigarh also had a dismal start when opener Deepti Walia (12) went back cheaply. Nikita and Gulnaz steered the innings to 85 with a partnership of 63 runs. Gulnaz was out after scoring 29 runs while Nikita (34) soon made her way to the pavilion. Team reeling at 91/3 was aptly supported by yet another fine partnership of 95 runs between Aaradhana Bisht and Shivangi as the duo brought the team closer to the target. Shivangi got out for 45 while skipper Kashvee Gautam (8) also followed her, Aaradhana hit the winning shot and ended the match in the 47th over. Aradhana scored 67 runs off 75 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Chandigarh is scheduled to play its next match against Bengal on December 16.
