Employee Welfare at the Core of EEDL’s Commitment to Chandigarh-RPSG Group

Chandigarh, Dec.12, 2024:--Eminent Electricity Distribution Limited (EEDL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of CESC Limited (an RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group company), reaffirms its steadfast commitment to the employees of the Chandigarh Electricity Department. The company assures that all service conditions and retirement benefits will be upheld in full accordance with the concluding agreement, honouring both its letter and spirit. Present Medical facilities shall be continued, Dearness allowances as notified by government of India shall also be applicable. The rumours about employees' job security during the transition are entirely baseless and unfounded. EEDL has assured that, contrary to these concerns, the reality is both reassuring and fully supportive of employees' interests.The Electricity Act, 2003, and the tender conditions provide robust safeguards for the jobs and service conditions of employees transferred to the privatized distribution company. Throughout their tenure, the service conditions of transferred employees can only be improved and, under no circumstances, made less favourable than those in place prior to the notification of privatization.Furthermore, employees' salaries, allowances, and other benefits, including terminal benefits such as pensions, gratuity, earned leave, and provident fund, are fully protected. These benefits will continue to be administered exclusively by the Government, ensuring no adverse impact on employees during the transition.These safeguards are enshrined in the Statutory Transfer Scheme and the Share Purchase Agreement between the UT Administration's Holding Entity and EEDL.
