Steps To Be Taken To Improve English Language Teaching:Education Minister, Punjab

By 121 News

Chandigarh 24th June:- Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema, Education Minister, Punjab has asked the teachers to ensure the academic standards of the government schools and improve the education system. Presiding over a meeting of 10 English teachers from each district, Dr. Cheema reviewed current academic years' matriculation result in which around 80,000 students failed in English language. To reach to a logical conclusion of this massive failure, Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema prepared a questionnaire for the English teachers in which he has asked them to write down the reasons of the failure and also sought suggestions regarding further improvement in result of especially English language.

Meanwhile he had an in person communication with the teachers for such a low result. The scanned copies of questionnaire were projected on screen and Dr. Cheema directly discussed the questionnaire and subsequent replies of the teachers with the senior officers of the department of Education. Most of the suggestions and reasons given by the teacher were inappropriate like student belonged to poor families, inadequate staff, students not willing to attend the classes etc. The Minister expressed concern over the deteriorating academic standards in the schools and said the teachers were more responsible for the decline than the students. It was a matter of grave concern that the replies given by the teachers projected on the screen were full of grammatical errors and lower standard of English, which signified that even teachers were not capable of giving good lessons of English to the students.

He directed all the officials related to education department to collect the suitable suggestions and reasons so that the system could be rectified as soon as possible and better results in the field of education could be drawn. The Minister also said if any changes required in the academic syllabi or in the current policies regarding education that should also be brought under consideration.

During the course of the meeting, Dr. Cheema said also said that the department of education was always opened to suggestions and would cooperate and support the teachers for the betterment of the students. He also mentioned that student's poor economic conditions, areas backwardness and assigning the teachers to other duties could not be the reasons behind such a massive failure of the students. He argued further saying that there were some schools which had the same infrastructure and conditions but have shown comparatively better results. Concluding the meeting, the Minister said that the teachers would be given proper training session especially teaching English language and appealed to the teacher to ensure right type of teaching so as to improve the academic standards in government schools.

This Nand Ghar model will provide targeted delivery of supplementary nutrition services along with related healthcare services for both mother and child including skill training for women. She stated that, training of Anganwadi social workers and construction of Anganwadi buildings are essential components of the mission.  And we are delighted that corporates as Vedanta have entered into this unique partnership to construct 4000 Anganwadis," said Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Hon'ble Union Minister for Women and Child Development. She has also stressed on the need of having toilets in these buildings for women to further the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission.

Anil Agarwal, Chairman, Vedanta said that the 'Nand Ghar' is an extension to the existing Anganwadi initiative and will be Vedanta Group's endeavour to provide a better environment to the children of India. Healthy children and empowered women will eradicate poverty and malnutrition, and make a prosperous nation. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Visits Emami Agrotech's Haldia Plant

By 121 News

Chandigarh 24th June:- Emami Agrotech Limited (formerly Emami Biotech Ltd) , the bio-diesel and edible oil arm of the diversified Rs 10,000cr Emami Group of Companies and the largest manufacturer of bio-diesel in Eastern India hosted the visit of  Nitin Gadkari, Hon'ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Government of India at the Company's Haldia facility today. Nitin Gadkari was accompanied by Aditya V Agarwal and Shri Manish Goenka, Directors, Emami Group, on a tour of the bio-diesel facility with an installed capacity of 300 tonnes per day followed by a ceremonial "sapling planting" programme within the precincts of the EAL Haldia Unit.

India has a bio-diesel capacity of around 1.2 MnT (Million Tonnes) / year. However, due to lack of awareness, the current operating capacity is only a meagre 0.1 MnT per year. Bio-diesel is both environment-friendly and cost effective which is why the Union Government is supporting its increased usage. Recently, the government has allowed private manufacturers of bio-diesel to sell the fuel directly to consumers which is expected to remove the bottlenecks to a large extent for the manufacturers like Emami Agrotech.

Aditya V. Agarwal, Director, Emami Group Said that we are privileged to have Nitin Gadkari amidst us. Bio-diesel is emerging as the alternative fuel with the benefits of a cleaner environment which accrues on account of its lower carbon emission. Witnessing this potential, this facility was set up at a cost of Rs 150 crore in 2008. Now, with support from the Union Government for bio-diesel, we are planning to up our ante with advanced R&D to maximize the manufacturing to its optimal level.  With the continued support from the Central Government, we hope for increased adoption of bio-diesel in ports, transport sector and railways. It is also a cost effective and greener alternative for the farmers of India who will get highly benefitted with the increased use of bio-diesel in this country.

Manish Goenka, Director, Emami Group, said that with Emami Agrotech supplying bio-diesel to the Haldia port, we are hopeful that it would generate interest amongst allied quarters also for bulk orders. Currently there is a growing international demand for bio-diesel as well and we supply to Europe, Singapore and China.

Emami Agrotech Limited set up a state-of-the-art multi-feed Biodiesel plant at Haldia in technical collaboration with Desmet Ballestra, an Italian major. The plant manufactures biodiesel conforming to EN and BIS standards. It has daily production capacity of 300 tonnes of biodiesel presently. The plant is well connected with Haldia Port and state highways for easy transportation to international and domestic market.
