Mohali, Dec.16, 2025:- Livasa Hospital, Mohali has achieved a major milestone in advanced cardiac care with the successful removal of a very large left atrial myxoma, approx 5 cm through an endoscopic minimally invasive cardiac surgery, which is a rare and complex procedure requiring precision and expertise.
The high-risk surgery performed by Livasa's cardiac surgery team, led by Dr. Ishant Singla consultant–cardiothoracic & vascular surgery (CTVS) and head of department, demonstrated remarkable surgical skill by excising one of the largest cardiac myxomas in India to be removed through a minimally invasive approach, avoiding conventional open-heart surgery.
Left atrial myxoma is a rare but potentially life-threatening heart tumor that can lead to stroke, heart failure, or sudden cardiac complications if left untreated. Traditionally managed through open sternotomy, the minimally invasive endoscopic approach used in this case ensured smaller incisions, reduced trauma, faster recovery, minimal blood loss, and superior cosmetic outcomes, while maintaining the highest standards of surgical safety.
Dr. Ishant Singla, who has over 12 years of experience and specialized training in robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery, meticulously planned and executed the procedure using advanced endoscopic techniques thus reaffirming Livasa Hospital Mohali's capability to manage highly complex cardiac cases with world-class precision.
Anurag Yadav, CEO-Livasa Hospitals said that this landmark surgery reflects Livasa's unwavering commitment to bringing the most advanced and patient-centric cardiac treatments to the region. Successfully removing one of the largest cardiac myxomas through a minimally invasive approach is a testament to the clinical excellence, technology, and teamwork that define Livasa Hospitals.
Dr. Jatinder Arora, senior VP–hospital operations, Livasa Hospitals said that this achievement underscores our focus on precision-driven outcomes and advanced surgical protocols. Livasa Hospital continues to invest in cutting-edge infrastructure and highly skilled clinicians to ensure patients receive globally benchmarked cardiac care closer to home.
The patient recovered well post-surgery and was discharged on the third day in stable condition.
