Chandigarh, Dec.25, 2025:-Jalaj in the men's category and Simar Makkar in the women's section emerged champions at the first-ever Iron Ride Enduro Duathlon, a unique endurance challenge that made a historic debut in Chandigarh. The landmark event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 45 cyclists from the tricity. The event was well supported by the Department of Wildlife and Forest, Govt of Punjab.
The duathlon tested participants through a combination of 12.5 kilometres of cycling, followed by a 5-kilometre kettlebell-loaded trek and a return leg on the same route by cycling, pushing athletes to their physical endurance, mental toughness
The cycling leg was flagged off from the NMIMS Campus, Sarangpur which took riders through a challenging route up to the foothills of the Siswan Forest.
Jalaj clocked 1:03:45 in the cycling segment and 1:34:49 in the trekking leg to complete the challenge, while Simar timed her cycling in 1:30:45 and completed the trekking segment in 2:10:34. Saurav Kumar stood second followed by Pranshu. In the women's section, Madhu Mahajan was the runner up while Renuka Kataria ranked third.
The five kilometre trek inside the Siswan Forest, carrying kettlebell loads throughout the course. The load-based trek added a unique dimension to the competition. The format received widespread appreciation from participants for its innovative concept and demanding structure.
Vikrant Sharma, the key organiser, said that the overwhelming response and flawless execution of the first Iron Ride Enduro Duathlon has exceeded our expectations. This event sets a new benchmark for endurance sports in the region, and we look forward to making it bigger and more challenging in the coming years.
