Chandigarh, Nov.05, 2025:-In celebration of the 556th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Readers Club of Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma (GGDSD) College, Chandigarh organized a sapling donation drive on the morning of November 5, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 9:30 AM, on the front side of Sukhna Lake. This effort, carried out for the fourth consecutive year, is part of the Club's continued commitment to environmental preservation and community well-being.
The sapling donation drive served a dual purpose: to honor the teachings and legacies of Sri Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, and to tackle the pressing matter of environmental conservation through this hands-on initiative. By distributing 556 saplings, the Readers Club aims to inspire environmental consciousness and promote sustainable, eco-friendly living within the community.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ajay Sharma, Principal of the college, addressed the gathering, expressing his appreciation for the thoughtful endeavour undertaken by the Readers Club. Moreover, he expressed his gratitude to the club members for their commitment to celebrating the 556th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev in a distinctive and impactful way.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Head Librarian and convener of the club, addressed the gathering with words of encouragement and inspiration. He conveyed his gratitude to the Principal, Dr. Ajay Sharma, for his steadfast support and encouragement.
A variety of beneficial saplings, including Garlic, Marigold, Ajwain, Peppermint, Hibiscus, Tulsi, Jade, Neem, and other herbal plants were donated in a recent drive aimed at promoting eco-consciousness.
The event was not merely a symbolic gesture but a concrete step towards promoting a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle. This event went beyond a symbolic initiative, representing a tangible effort to encourage sustainable, environmentally friendly living.
