Chandigarh, Oct.18, 2025:-Despite a valiant 141-run knock by opener Arjun Azad, Chandigarh suffered a heavy defeat against host Goa in their Ranji Trophy opener at the GCA Academy, Porvorim on Saturday.
Resuming their second innings at 159/3, Azad stood tall and scored a marathon innings of 141 off 216 balls including 16 boundaries. Bhagmender Lather (38) and A K Kaushik (82) contributed in a 153-run partnership that briefly lifted Chandigarh's hopes. Lower-order contributions from unbeaten Mayank Sidhu (33) and the tail added valuable runs but regular wickets saw Chandigarh all out for 354, falling short by an innings and 75 runs.
Earlier, Goa had posted a massive 556 in their first innings while Chandigarh's first innings ended in a dismal 137.
