UTCA All Set to organise Chandigarh Premier League 2025: Six Franchise Teams to Contest for Coveted Trophy from August 28

Chandigarh, August 19, 2025:--The Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA) today announced the launch of the Chandigarh Premier League (CPL) 2025, a franchisee-based cricket tournament designed to take city cricket to a new level. The announcement was made at a press conference held at Hotel Taj, Sector 17 wherein UTCA President Sanjay Tandon unveiled the details of the much-anticipated league.

The CPL will be played in the T20 format which will kick off on August 28 and continue till Grand Finale scheduled on September 13. The league will feature six franchise-owned teams competing in 33 matches including two semifinals and a grand finale. In order to give fans maximum excitement, two matches will be played every day at the iconic Cricket Stadium, Sector 16. All games will be broadcast live on Fancode, providing wide accessibility and a professional viewing experience. The league will be inaugurated on August 26 by His Excellency the Governor of Punjab and UT Administrator, Gulab Chand Kataria.

The six franchise slots have been allotted on a first-come, first-served basis, ensuring complete transparency in ownership. The confirmed teams include Altruistians, Capital Strikers, Chandigarh Kings, Dr Morepen Dazzlers, Panchkula Bashers and Talanoa Tigers. This innovative franchise model not only infuses a competitive spirit but also offers budding cricketers a professional platform to showcase their skills.

Addressing the media, UTCA President Sanjay Tandon emphasized that the CPL is aimed at nurturing local cricketing talent while strengthening Chandigarh's position as a hub for sports. He expressed confidence that the league would inspire young players and provide them an opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the best in the game.

The press conference was attended by Devender Sharma, (Secretary), CA Alok Krishan (Treasurer), Apex Council Member Daniel Banerjee and other senior UTCA officials. Team owners are expected to soon reveal their celebrity ambassadors, further raising excitement among cricket enthusiasts.
