If Chandigarh is not a Heritage City, Then why is There a Ban on Share Wise Property Purchase and Sale: Congress

By 121 News
Chandigarh, Feb.06, 2025:-The central government has clarified in the Parliament that Chandigarh does not have the status of 'Heritage City', but only the Capital Complex area comes under the heritage category. After this answer, the biggest question that arises now is that when the entire city is not a heritage, then why has the UT administration banned the purchase and sale of share wise property for the last two years?

Congress District President Surjit Dhillon strongly objected to this decision and said that thousands of people of Chandigarh are troubled by this ban. Some cancer patients want to sell their property for their treatment, while some need money for their children's higher education, but due to the arbitrariness of the administration, they are not able to transact their own property. There is chaos among property dealers and property owners, and many transactions are stuck.

Surjit Dhillon said that due to this impractical order, people are facing tremendous financial crisis. The victims have appealed to the DC and the advisor of the administration many times, but no solution has been found. He demanded from the administration that this unfair ban should be lifted immediately, so that the citizens of Chandigarh can get relief and property transactions can happen smoothly.

Manimajra Block President of Congress Sanjeev Gaba said that if Chandigarh does not have the status of 'Heritage City', then banning property transactions for two years on this basis is completely wrong.
