Work Education Instructors Committee Stopped by Administration from Meeting CM Haryana regarding Their Demands

Panchkula, October 10, 2023:-
Striking Work Education Instructors Committee had been repeatedly protesting against the Haryana government regarding their legitimate demands since June 22, 2023.  Even after more than four months of peaceful protest, when the demands were not accepted, the committee members on Tuesday collectively decided to meet the Chief Minister and discuss the issue with him.

The members had come out of the protest site and were marching towards the CM House peacefully to meet the Chief Minister, but the administration and police force stopped them from marching forward. Following this, the members sat on the ground to register their protest against the government and erring officials who have been delaying the process.

During the protest, one of the female employees fell unconscious due to the use of force by the police. After hours of protest, a delegation of work instructors was finally taken to meet Rajesh Khullar at his residence in Panchkula. He assured the delegation that their matter would be addressed and were asked to visit for a meeting again on Saturday. After the assurance, the employees returned to the protest site.

On the occasion, Rajat Bhatt State President Work Education Instructors Committee and his team decided that they would continue the strike at the protest site until their demands are met.

It is worth mentioning here that under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (Comprehensive Education), the Work Education Instructors have been working in various government schools of Haryana since August 2014. The ongoing protest at Shiksha Sadan Sector 5 Panchkula was initiated by the teachers on June 22, 2023 to press the government to fulfil their legitimate demands. The teachers have been demanding to be included in the By Laws 2013 framed by the Council.

Earlier, during the dharna, four members of the committee had also observed a fast unto death for six consecutive days from August 2, 2023. The workers ended their fast after Rajesh Khullar, then ACS and now CPS Haryana Government, assured them that their demands would be fulfilled. "Despite the assurance the demands have not been fulfilled and are being deliberately ignored by the administration and the government. The only reason behind today's protest march was to wake up the government from its slumber," said the president.

After Rajesh Khullar's assurance, the work education instructors postponed their protest march.
