Chandigarh Beat HP in Hyderabad: Chandigarh Lost to AP in Kolkotta:Vinoo Mankad Matches at Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Oct.12, 2023:- The all round performance led by Devang Kaushik propelled  UT boys to start their Vinoo Mankad trophy's campaign in a winning note as Chandigarh beat Himachal Pradesh by six wickets in a one sided affair at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday. Earlier, HP won the toss and opted to bat first followed by prolific start by openers - Inesh Mahajan (71) and Arnav Bhardwaj (62) who took the team to 100 in the 12th over. Nishunk Birla drew the first blood in the form of Arnav Bhardwaj followed by destroying the top order (Arjun Wadhwa - 0 and Abhishek Sharma -1). His demolition was well supported by Devang Kaushik who wrapped up middle order and tailenders to pile up HP at 158 runs in 31st over.  Besides openers, none of the batters touched the double figure mark. Birla (5/11) took five wickets in his six-over spell while Kaushik (4/7) took four wickets in a three-over stint. Skipper Paras settled with one wicket.

 

Chasing down the target, Chandigarh got off to a poor start when opener Jashan Beniwal (8) was dismissed cheaply. Later, wicketkeeper batter Aryan Verma joined Devang Kaushik, but was not good enough as he departed after scoring 21 runs with 68/2 on the board. Thereafter, Kaushik and Paras put on a partnership of 39 runs to reach 107 before lateral one got out for 18. Meanwhile,  Kaushik continued to hold the fort as he scored 65 runs off 81 balls which was studded by two sixes and six boundaries. With unbeaten Ishan Gaba (17) and Nikhil (19) UT lads achieved the target by losing four wickets in the 34th over.

 

UT Girls' losing streak continues as lost to Andhra by six wickets

 

Chandigarh. UT girls losing streak continued in the Women's Under-19 ODI being played in Kolkata as Andhra Pradesh defeated Chandigarh by six wickets. This is Chandigarh's third consecutive defeat in the tournament. Earlier, Chandigarh won the toss and batted first. The team was bundled out for mere 119 runs in the 41st over. Rakhi (25) was the top scorer while BS Deepthi (3/16) took the maximum share of three wickets. In reply, Andhra Pradesh surpassed the target by losing four wickets in the 24th over. Mahantishree emerged as the top scorer with 47 runs. Parushi Prabhakar (3/36) took the most three wickets. Chandigarh's fourth match is against Saurashtra on October 14.


Shravan's ton helped Andhra Pradesh to crush Manipur by 194 runs

 

Haryana and Bihar also won their Vinoo Mankad trophy matches

 

Chandigarh, TS Shravan knock of 124 runs helped Andhra Pradesh to beat Manipur by 194 runs in a one sided affair on the first day of Vinoo Mankad trophy match being played at Mahajan Cricket Ground, IT Park on Thursday. Andhra won the toss and opted to bat first with putting 293/5 on the board. Mohd Taufiq also scored 50. Basant took four wickets. In reply, Manipur were bowled out for 99 runs as Basant (24) emerged as top scorer. D Sriram (4/29) took four wickets while Hemanth Kumar (3/13) clinched three wickets.

In another match played at the Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Assam faced a five wicket defeat from  Bihar. Earlier, Assam opted to bat first and were bundled out for 162 runs in the 34th over wherein top scorer Dyutimoy Nath (50) scored a half-century. Anup Kumar (3/14) took three wickets. Bihar chased down the target at the loss of five wickets in the 33rd over. Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 86 while unbeaten captain Animesh Kumar added 38 runs. Mohit Thakur (3/21) took three wickets

 

In the third match played at GMSS School Sector 26, Haryana registered a comprehensive win over Jammu and Kashmir by eight wickets. Haryana invited J&K to bat first and reduced them to 198 runs in the 46th over against the lethal bowling attack of Himanshu Kumar (4/26). Bilal Ahmed Bhat scored the highest 58. In reply, opening batters skipper Yashvardhan Dalal (74) and unbeaten Lakshya Yadav (90) eased the way to victory for Haryana as the team achieved the win in the 34th over at the loss of two wickets.
