Chandigarh, March 07, 2021:-Healthy woman contributes to a happy home. The secret to good health is awareness. A woman passes through various milestones like puberty, pregnancy, motherhood and menopause. She should be made aware of the changes in her body during the different stages of life.
Dr Parneet Kaur, a high risk pregnancy specialist at IVY Hospital, Mohali said on Sunday that a young girl should be educated regarding periods, menstrual hygiene, sexually transmitted diseases and contraception. She opined that a woman planning pregnancy should be counselled regarding the importance of pre pregnancy tests and supplements.
She informed that for women of reproductive age group annual health screening should be stressed upon and screening for gynaecological cancers should be a priority.
Dr. Paneer said that menopausal women should have regular calcium, protein rich diet and bone health should be discussed in detail with them. Healthy diet, exercise, and plenty of fluids are the ingredients to keep healthy. A happy and stress free mind can be achieved with yoga, meditation and relaxation.
