Chandigarh Dec. 30, 2020:- The representatives of all universities and private colleges of Punjab thanked Central State Minister Shri Som Prakash for restoration of post-matric scholarship scheme. The meeting was held on the scholarship scheme at minister's residence.
On this occasion, Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor DBU said that we are great full to the Government for bringing fruitful changes in this scheme for the students. He added that at varsity level, DBU keeps on extending various scholarship schemes. In the year 1999, 8.2 Crores of funds were release under Mata Jarnail Kaur Scholarship Scheme and keeping the situation of pandemic COVID-19 into consideration, this year the funds were extended upto 11 Crores for deserving candidates on merit basis via Desh Bhagat Entrance and Scholarship Test (DBEST). For the session 2021, we are planning something more beneficial for the students, which is in process and will be published by mid of January 2021.
Dr. Sandeep Singh, President, Desh Bhagat University expressed his views and said that post metric scholarship scheme plays a vital role in the education of SC students. With the help of funds released by the Central Government for the scholarship, SC students can take quality education and can illuminate the name of our country. They can get jobs as well as generate employment in various sectors.
