Chandigarh Nov. 26, 2020:- A 55-yr female, suffering from severe bow legs has been treated successfully with stitch-less knee replacement at Ivy Hospital, Mohali recently.
Giving information, Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh Saluja, director and head of orthopaedics and joint replacement at Ivy, said that the patient was suffering from arthritis for the last 10-yr. Arthritis was progressive over the years but she kept ignoring her disability by taking local treatment including massage and painkillers.
Dr. Bhanu Pratap Singh Saluja said that Arthritis progressed to such an extent that she developed severe bow legs and became housebound walking just a step or two with the help of walking aid.
Post-surgery the patient was mobilized within 6-hr of the surgery, informed Dr. Bhanu adding we have also introduced a recovery to room (R2R) walking facility for the patient in hospital for patient's speedy recovery.
She was comfortable walking without being support from the 3rd day of surgery and started to climb the stairs with ease from the 4th day onwards.
Such recent advancement in approach towards the patient care and rehabilitation has made knee replacement of much ease at Ivy, opined Dr. Bhanu who with surgical time of 15-20 minutes, is expertise in not using any kind of urinary pipes, drains, epidural, and stitches on the wound.
