Chandigarh Nov. 25, 2020:- Shiromani Akali Dal (Democratic) party president and Rajya Sabha MP S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa has strongly condemned the Haryana government's order to seal its borders with Punjab, creating obstruction in the farmers' stir in New Delhi on November 26 and 27, and denying the democratic rights of farmers to protest against the anti-farmer agricultural laws. S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa in a press statement said that sealing of the borders by Haryana police was unfortunate and had made it clear that the BJP led government in Haryana was trying to stop the peaceful agitation of the farmers at the behest of the Centre government.

He also termed the detaining of farmer union leaders by the Haryana police as undemocratic.  S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa expressed surprise as to why the Haryana Police had taken such a step when the farmers had already declared the agitation to be peaceful.  S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, MLA from Lehra and former Punjab Finance Minister, would join the agitation along with other party leaders to support the farmers in their agitation.

S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa further said that the agitation of farmers had been going on peacefully for the last few months, in a constitutional manner. He said that it is duty of the Centre government to listen to the farmers and meet their demands. Our party stands with the farmers' community in these trying times. The party had never taken any political advantage in this struggle and only wants to raise the voice of the farmers by joining the protest. We are with the truth. He appealed the party workers to take active part in the farmers' stir.
