Desh Bhagat University Celebrated International Chef Day

Chandigarh Oct. 22, 2020:-  To celebrate International Chef Day, School of Hotel Management, Airlines & Tourism (SOHMAT) of Desh Bhagat University organized a webinar on the theme "Healthy food matters".

The key speakers of the event were Dr. Sandeep Malik, Director, institute of Hotel & Tourism Management, Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak and Chef Vivek Sharma, Assistant Professor, Himachal Pradesh Technical University, Hamirpur. Dr. Sandeep Malik, emphasized on ill effects of Junk Food on our body. Chef Vivek Sharma discussed the traditional methods of cooking and nutritional diet.

Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor and Dr. Tejinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University said that we all love a meal that is not only delicious but also nutritious, the biggest contribution of the same goes to the people who cook that food for us, be it our Grandmothers, Mothers, or Professional Chefs. It is a way to extend gratitude to them.

They added that international Chef's Day is observed to celebrate the chef profession and pass on the knowledge and culinary skills to the next generation of chefs.

Dr. Shalini Gupta, Vice chancellor, DBU, discussed the importance of maintaining healthy food habits.  

Dr. Palwinder Kumar Director, SOHMAT, DBU, discussed the history and importance of celebrating the day and thanked everyone for their contribution.
