Chandigarh Oct. 22, 2020:- Ravi Inder Singh, a former senior Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leader who has remained speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha twice, and who is now heading Shiromani Akali Dal(1920) has been accused by his 82 years old sister, Roopinder Kaur for harassing her and misusing official machinery to stall her efforts at selling her share of ancestral farm land. The land in question is in Morinda, district Rupnagar. Roopinder Kaur who is based at Delhi is a kidney patient and on life supporting dialysis.
Roopinder Kaur said that on Delhi High Court directions, 45 acres of land is on her name, which she is trying to sell out. It is her free will to sell the land so she is only exercising her rights over the land.
Roopinder added that recently when she was trying to sell 30 acres of her share to a buyer Davinder Singh Sohal by registering a sale deed at Morinda Tehsil, Avtar Singh Sidhu who seems to have been made a front by her brother to torment her arrived there & the police without any valid reason, registered a false FIR against the buyer , her representative and even an over 80-year-old senior citizen who was carrying the power of attorney on my behalf. She is not able to travel due to her poor health and old age. She requests the CM to order quashing of this baseless FIR aimed at intimidating her.
It is to be noted that Sidhu happens to be the OSD of sitting Punjab Cabinet Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Roopinder further said that she implore the Punjab CM to order an independent inquiry by a retired judge of the High Court on this harassment of a senior citizen lady who is undergoing regular life supporting dialysis. Her call on the CM to also investigate the role of Charanjit Channi in the matter as his OSD has been behind all illegalities in her case.
It is noteworthy that Avtar Singh Sidhu had approached Roopinder Kaur to buy her land in 2016 on taking up the position as political adviser of present Punjab Cabinet Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Channi was leader of opposition then. The deal was not finalised as Sidhu asked Roopinder Kaur to return the earnest money (bayana) of Rs 10 lakhs paid by him through cheque, the agreement became null and void as the cheque was never cashed and also due to misrepresentation done in sale deeds by Avtar Singh Sidhu.
She added that whenever she tries to sell her share in the land Sidhu raises the bogey of the invalid deal done with her.
Roopinder Kaur summed up that she has documents to prove that she owned 1/4th share of the family farm and after the passing away of her parents this share increased to half(1/2). Her brother ex speaker Ravi Inder Singh has been lying that she don't own any land in order to pocket her share of farm income. He should be prosecuted for this as all these years he has under a fraudulent act not paid her a single rupee of my share which was her legal right.
