National Nutritional Week observed at Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College and Hospital

Chandigarh September 08, 2020:- Desh Bhagat Ayurvedic College and hospital of Desh Bhagat University observed National Nutrition Week. A webinar on the occasion on topic,"Role of Nutrition for Immunity during COVID-19-An Ayurvedic and Modern approach was organized". More than 250 staff members and students joined the event.

Eminent Speakers from different fields shared their knowledge and experience about need for Nutrition and its role in Immunity Buildup at different Stages of Life. Dr.Satya Deo Pandey, Principal DBAC&H, discussed Nutrition for Immunity Build up, Dr.Anil Joshi, Reader Swasthvrutta Dept. DBAC&H, Nutritional needs of Body- Ayurvedic Approach, Dr.Madhu Joshi, Reader Gynaecology & Obstetrics DBAC&H, discussed Nutritional Needs during pregnancy and Dr. Darshana, Asst. Professor Kayachikitsa Dept. DBAC&H, shared information about Geriatric Nutrition, Dr. Jyoti Dhami , DMS ,DBAC&H, shared information on nutrition needs of body modern approach.

Dr.Zora Singh , Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University said that National Nutrition Week is  celebrated each year to force us to be aware of the importance of nutrition in human body  and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. A well balanced diet with regular physical activity is the recipe for good health. Poor nutrition can lead to reduced immunity, impaired physical and mental development and reduced productivity. He added that if we don't eat our food as medicine, we will have to eat Medicine as food.

Dr.Tejinder Kaur, Pro Chancellor, Desh Bhagat University, said that focusing on nutrient rich foods and healthy lifestyle behavior can help us stay a step ahead .Good nutrition provides strong Immune system, which offers protection from various diseases, including Corona Virus.
