National Institute of Nursing Education Holds Lamp Lighting Ceremony

Chandigarh 05th November:- The Lamp lighting ceremony was held at National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) Auditorium for the Student Nurses admitted for session 2016 on 5th December, 2016. Dr. Sandhya Ghai, Principal, NINE cum-Presidents, TNAI of the UT Branch, Chandigarh welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. Subhash Verma, Director, PGI, and the Guest of Honor, Prof. Meenu Singh, Deptt. of Pead. Medicine and Head, Telemedicine Centre, PGI. Dr. Ghai congratulated the students for choosing the noblest of the noble profession & their formal entry into nursing profession. She also highlighted the importance of lamp lighting ceremony & taking Florence Nightingale Pledge. She encouraged the new entrants for providing selfless service to the patients with empathy and maintains dignity of self and the profession. She motivated them to provide quality cost effective evidence based comprehensive nursing care to the patients. Prof.  Subhash Verma, congratulated the new entrants for their entry into nursing profession and insisted on putting tremendous energy and hard work towards patient care with full dedication. He wished them success for future endeavors.  While addressing to the students, Dr. Meenu Singh, who also had been Prof. Incharge NINE in 2010, urged them to serve the patients as competent and compassionate nurses. She further emphasized on dedication and honesty to be incorporated in patient care.  

Florence Nightingale pledge was sworn in by Dr Sunita Sharma, Advisor, Student Nurses Association. The  programme concluded with the candle lighting ceremony by  the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor alongwith the Principal, NINE and the senior faculty members, in which each student lit candle as a symbol of enlightenment & hope for their bright future.
