State Bank of India, Chandigarh Circle Celebrates 61st Bank Day

Chandigarh 02nd July:- State Bank of India celebrated its Foundation Day with a series of programmes throughout the country including a country wide Organ Donation campaign. At Chandigarh, the Bank Day celebrations culminated with a get together of local dignitaries, customers, staff and families at Tagore theatre, Sector-18, Chandigarh. Hon'ble Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, Punjab & Haryana and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest at the evening function. RBI Regional Director, Nirmal Chand, PGI Director,  Yogesh Chawla and other dignitaries participated in the function.   To add a touch of colour to the celebrations, the evening gets together ended with a virtuoso performance by KK who regaled the packed auditorium at Tagore Theatre, particularly the youth, with Bollywood songs. 

Governor Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki in his address appreciated the services rendered by SBI to the country and acknowledged the efforts and initiatives of the bank's Chandigarh Circle in improving the socio-economic conditions and financial inclusion in the region. Chandigarh Circle covers the states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and UT Chandigarh.

Earlier in the day, Anil Kishora CGM Chandigarh Circle administered to all the staff members at the Bank's its Local Head Office in Chandigarh an Oath to uphold work ethics and raise the standard of customer service and simultaneously inaugurated 101 Customer Service Points across the Circle's territory to enhance financial inclusion.

As part of the celebrations, the Circle also organized a lecture on "Organ Donation" by Dr. Saryu Madra, ROTTO Deptt. PGIMER, Chandigarh to create awareness about the noble cause among the staff and encourage them to donate organs. Medical Superintendent, PGI led the team of doctors to talk to gathering of more than 200 SBI staff, many of whom volunteered to pledge or consider pledging organs for donations.   

Further, in a run up to the Bank Day, the Circle held over 67 Town Hall Meetings on 28th June'16 at various centres in Chandigarh UT, Haryana, Punjab, J&K and Himachal Pradesh. The customers and general public shared their experience & expectations with bank officials.
