PPA To organize Workshop on Basic Osteopathic Concepts of Spine in Clinical Scenario on July 24

Chandigarh 23^rd July:- PGI Physiotherapists Association is going to organize a one day workshop on "Basic Osteopathic Concepts of Spine in Clinical Scenario" on 24^th July 2016 at Physiotherapy Block, New OPD, PGI, Chandigarh. The resource person and the main speaker of the workshop Dr. Somya Bhattacharjee (PT), MPT (Musculoskeletal) is working as Assistant Professor in Tripura Institute of Physiotherapy, Agartala, Tripura. He has got vast experience in treating patients with various musculoskeletal disorders through Physiotherapy and Osteopathic techniques. He has done graduate diploma in osteopathy from Thailand and specialized in treating patients with spinal disorders through spinal manipulations.

Osteopathy is a form of drug free non-invasive manual medicine that focuses on total body health by treating musculoskeletal framework which includes joints, muscles and spine. It is a specialized manual approach which aims to restore function in the body by treating the cause of pain and imbalances. Osteopathic Techniques are widely practiced in many western countries like United States and Canada.

 Osteopathy is effective method of treatment in various orthopedic conditions like back pain, neck pain and other musculoskeletal disorders. In India, there is lack of awareness about osteopathy but in future this concept will surely revolutionize the treatment methods of physiotherapy. Delegates, Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy students are expected to come from various corners of India to participate in the workshop.

The Chairman of PGI Physiotherapists Association (PPA) Dr. Pradip Sarkar (Senior Physiotherapist) stated that all Physiotherapists from PGIMER are going to gain knowledge on osteopathy through this workshop and the patients are going to be benefitted with the acquired knowledge. Patients suffering from various spinal problems are treated effectively with physiotherapy in PGI and the knowledge of Osteopathy techniques will further enhance the effectiveness of Physiotherapy in patient's functional outcome.
