Chandigarh 20th July:- Free Legal Aid to 206 persons including 74 females was provided during this year by District Legal Services Authority. This was stated by District & Session Judge Archana Puri while presiding over a meeting of District Legal Services Authority at meeting hall of Judicial Court Complex.
During this, Archna Puri said that besides Judicial Court Complex, National Lok Adalat will be held on 13 August at Kharar & Dera Bassi Courts. During the National Lok Adalat cases relating to banks and other cases will be disposed by mutual acceptance of both the parties. During this she urged that people awareness among general public for the free legal services and Lok Adalats should be generated and for promoting Lok Adalats boards and hoardings should be installed in all district offices. She said that a seminar will be held on 29 July for explaining about the welfare schemes for construction workers. Besides this camps will also be organized to generate awareness among construction workers. Justice Archna Puri said that awareness regarding Victim Compensation Scheme is also need to be generated. She said that a new panel of advocates will be formed at SAS Nagar, Dera Bassi & Kharar court for providing free legal advice to the general public. Besides this Paralegal volunteers will also be formed.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner D.S.Mangat said that to derive maximum benefit District Administration will generate awareness at village level regarding Lok Adalat and free legal service being provided by district Legal Service Authority.
