Rs. 32 Crore 49 Lacs Will be Spent Under MGNREGA Scheme in Sistrict:Paramjit Kaur Badali

Chandigarh 19th May:- During the current financial year Rs. 32 crore 49 lacs will be spent under MGNREGA scheme in the district, out of which Rs. 18 crore 99lacs will be spent on labour component and Rs. 11 crore 50 lacs on material component. Besides this, Rs. 2 crore will be spent towards environmental aspects including tree plantation and maintenance. Explaining this Chairperson Zila Parsihad Paramjit Kaur Badali said that during the last year Rs. 8 crore 50 lacs were spent under MGNREGA scheme in the district.

Paramjit Kaur Badali said that during the current year maximum employment opportunities will be generated under MGNREGA scheme and a target has been set up to generate 2 lacs 66 thousand 182 man days in the district. He said that various development works including tree plantation on sides of link roads, earth filling on outer periphery of village, renovation of ponds etc. will be carried out.

She said that 73 water sheds will be constructed through centre sponsored scheme under MGNREA so that rain water could be used efficiently & judiciously. Earlier the water was remained unutilised, but now after provision of water sheds, the rain water will be recharged and will also be utilised for irrigation purposes, which will ensure utilisation of natural water source up to great extent.

Chairperson Zila Parishad said that there are 343 Gram Panchayats in the three blocks namely Majri, Kharar & Dera Bassi falling under the jurisdiction of district SAS Nagar and the various development works in the villages of these blocks will be got carried through Gram Panchayats under MGNREGA and maximum employment opportunities will be generated. She said that these development works will help in maintaining clean and green environment and will also provide basic facilities to the rural population. She further said that during the monsoon season, tree plantation campaign will also be initiated. As such, Rs. 2 crore will be spent for all these works. Cooperation from Social service organisations & religious sectors will also be sought in this regards, so that environment could be protected against pollution and a clean and green environment could be ensured. She further said that 92 Anganwari centres will also be constructed under MGNREGA scheme in the district.
