PGI Celebrates International Nurses Day

Chandigarh 12th May:- Every year 12th May is celebrated as International Nurses Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. The theme for this year is "Nurses: A Force for Change: Improving Health Systems' Resilience". At PGI, Chandigarh, International Nurses Day was celebrated on 12th May, to mark the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing profession.  The inaugural function was organized at Bhargava Auditorium, PGI, Chandigarh.  The function started with invocation song. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Yogesh Chawla, Director PGI Chandigarh and Guest of Honour was Prof. Subhash Varma, Dean PGI and Dr. Vipin Koushal, Acting Medical Superintendent, PGI Chandigarh.

Jaspal Kaur, Nursing Superintendent, PGI read the welcome address. She emphasized that in order to meet the challenges of future; it is important & imperative that the inputs of nurses are incorporated in the formulation of health sector policies. She encouraged the Nursing staff to work hard and with full dedication.

The theme was introduced by Dr. Sandhya Ghai, Principal NINE. She divulged on the theme in detail & encouraged the nursing staff to achieve the intended goal.

Prof. Yogesh Chawla appreciated the role of nurses in infection control and organ donation and encouraged them to do their Best.

Dr. Subhash Varma, Dean PGI & Dr. Vipin Koushal appreciated the role of nurses and encouraged them to provide services beyond the call of duty.
