Chandigarh 20th May:- During the last 3 years Mohali Police has arrested 493 drug paddlers by registering 385 cases against drug peddlers, drug, material like Opium, Poppy husk, Heroine, Smack, Charas, Ganja, and Cocaine, Drugs in the form of powder, injections & capsules has been recovered from the victims. Explaining this SSP Mohali Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Positive response of campaign against drug menace initiated by Mohali Police has resulted in to effective outcome. In this regard, more than 70 village level public meetings have been conducted by Mohali Police under the campaign wherein people were urged to cooperate for complete eradication of drug menace.
SSP Mohali said that campaign against drug menace has been initiated as per directions of CM Punjab, Dy CM Punjab and Director General Punjab Police Suresh Arora. He said that during public meetings, awareness against drugs is being generated and effect of drugs on family as well as individual health is explained in detail. He said that under the campaign 30 cases has been registered in the district and 40 victims have been arrested and drug material including 1 quintal 59 kg 300 gms poppy husk, Powder drug 298 gram, smack 18 gram, medicated drugs 140 units, liquid medicated drug 1 ltr 500 ml. 45 gram medicated powder drug, 3 kg 500 gram Ganja, 61 injections, 9144 capsules/ tablets have been recovered. He said that during the current month 5 absconders have been arrested under section 82, 83 of CRCP & 23 absconders have been arrested under section 299 of CRCP.
SSP Bhullar said that during year 2014 256 drug paddlers were arrested by registering 207 cases and in year 2015 191 drug paddlers were arrested by registering 148 cases. Whereas during year 2016 46 victims have been arrested by registering 30 cases. He said that arrested drug peddlers belongs to Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajsthan, Chandigarh, Delhi, UP, MP & 4 belongs to Nigeria. He said that during year 2014 drug material including 21 Kg 682 gram opium, 19 quintal 20 KG 500 gram poppy husk, 2 kg 137 gram heroine, 164 gram smack, 1 quintal 50 kg 185 gram ganja, 25 gram cocaine, 5 kg 600 gram Sulfas & Bhang, 3 KG 518 gram drug powder, 1 lacs 41 thousand 310 capsule drugs and 132 injections were recovered. Meanwhile in year 2015, drug material including 7 Kg 550 gram opium, 6 quintal 41 KG 600 gram poppy husk, 662 gram heroine, 107 gram smack, 767 gram charas, 24 kg 850 gram ganja, 12 KG 320 gram Sulfas, 1 Kg 16 gram drug powder, 33057 capsule drugs and 171 injections were recovered. During year 2016 drug material including 1 quintal 59 KG 300 gram poppy husk, 298 gram heroine, 18 gram smack, 3 kg 500 gram ganja, 45 gram drug powder, 9144 capsule drugs and 61 injections have been recovered. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that outskirts of SAS Nagar adjoining to border of Himachal, Chandigarh, and Haryana are being used as a means of transportation of drugs. But police have been directed to keep a close watch and to take strict action against drug peddlers.
