Chandigarh 11th March:- Carmel Convent School Chandigarh here conducted a special health talk on 'Women's physical & mental Health' in association with Max Hospital, Mohali and Simply Health Plus today. Over 80 staff members attended the talk which was conducted to mark International Women's Day.
Speaking during occasion, Dr Rishi Dhawan, Senior consultant, Cosmetology & Skin Care, Max Hospital said that beauty is not skin deep as you need to earn a beautiful skin. It is very important to give equal importance to our mental health in order to get a good physical health. Women are more prone to depression as 10-15 women out of 100 get depression once in their lifetime. Thus, they need to identify problems early and take precautions like preventing illnesses through early testing and similarly not ignoring mental health by seeking help early.
Dr Rishi Dhawan also talked about on anti-ageing modalities and highlighted the non-surgical anti-ageing techniques available to women including chemical peeling, micro derma abrasion, botox, dermafillers, dermalift, dermarollers etc.
Shivani Gulati, Head, Department of Dietetics and Nutrition, Max Hospital Mohali said that diet and nutrition help women of all age's look and feel their best while fulfilling their multiple roles. Women have varied nutritional needs as they pass through different stages of their lives including adolescence, pregnancy, lactation and menopause. Regardless of age, maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle decreases their chances of developing different ailments.
A well balanced diet for women should consist of complex carbohydrates, good fat, protein, calcium, iron, antioxidants, magnesium, vitamin D and all other useful nutrients. Today, all of us are leading a stressful life with busy schedules coupled with various work and family pressures that usually lead to poor eating habits and nutritional imbalances. She added that good nutrition and eating right can increase a woman's energy level, help her maintain a healthy weight and protect her body against potential illnesses.
