46th All-India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan from March 18

Chandigarh 16th March:-  On the occasion of Kendra's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations , Pracheen Kala Kendra is all set to treat classical music and dance lovers with splendid and exhilarating performances of artists of repute during the seven-day festival of music and dance.

Pracheen Kala Kendra has the privilege of announcing  46th  All India Pracheen Kala Kendra Nritya and Sangeet  Sammelan this year from March 18 to 24, 2016. As we all know that Pracheen Kala Kendra is a philanthropic non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation and dissemination of Indian classical arts as well as imparting quality education, training and conducting examinations in the field of performing and visual arts since its inception in 1956. This year Kendra also going to honor two famous personalities in the field of music i.e Saubhagya Vardhan Badal and Keshav Talegaonkar.

Pracheen Kala Kendra has been organizing this yearly festival since 1969 uninterruptedly. This year it is organizing 46th Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan where almost all the legendary artists of Indian classical music (Vocal and Instrumental) and dances have performed time to time.

Entire community of artists feel a sense to gratitude towards the Pracheen Kala Kendra as they have grown with this institution. Their talent was spotted and patronized by Pracheen Kala Kendra at the time when they were nobody. So they have shared the Pracheen Kala Kendra has been instrumental in achieving the potential of these legendry artists of today. They feel proud to have performed on this prestigious stage of Pracheen Kala Kendra.

Pracheen Kala Kendra Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan, formerly known as All-India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan is hailed as one of the oldest and most prestigious music and dance festivals of India.  Since its beginning in 1969, it has offered an ideal stage for the debut of many musicians and dancers.

The Sammelan has the distinction of being one of the few prestigious festivals which feature all the three branches of Classical music i.e. Gayan (Vocal), Vadan (Instrumental) and Nritya (Dance). This festival provides a magnificent opportunity to performers to showcase their endowments. To come on the stage of Pracheen Kala Kendra denotes beginning of an artist in the panorama of Indian classical music. Every year renowned artists from all over the country participate in this Sammelan which is organized without charging any entry fee and tickets from the audience.  The Kendra organizes this festival exclusively for the promotion of classical music. The City Beautiful Chandigarh and Pracheen Kala Kendra Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan have shared the journey of growth and evolution and the latter has put the city on the cultural map of the world. 

Today, the Sammelan is a hallmark in the annual cultural calendar of Chandigarh. Since its start in 1969, almost all the leading luminaries from the field of classical dance and music have had the occasion to be part of the annual Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan. This is evident from the participation of Pt. Vinayak Rao Pattwardhan, Pt. Vinayak Rao Vyas, Ustad Bade Mubarak Ali Khan, Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, Pandit Jasraj, Guru Girija Devi, Begum Parveen Sultana, Pandit Rajan-Sajan Mishra, Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, Dr. Sharayu Kalekar, Smt. Sulochana Brahaspati, Vidushi Shubha Mudgal, Pandit Kishan Maharaj, Dr. N. Rajam, , Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Pandit Debu Chaudhary, Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Pandit Manilal Nag, Pt.
