Chandigarh 18th January:- Pulse Polio National Immunization Round started in the U.T., Chandigarh on 17th January 2016. The State level function was inaugurated Director Health Services, Dr. V.K. Gagneja in AMU-Raipur Khurad. The polio campaign was attended by village panchayat members, community leaders and Programme Officers of Health department. According to District Immunization Officer, Dr. Anu Chopra Dosajh, more the 450 booths were setup to cover children in the age group of 0-5 years and give them the benefit of oral polio vaccine. In addition 17 transits points were being setup to cover the children entering into the city. In this masks campaign more then 2000 vaccinators from various departments including Police department, Education Department, Department of social welfare along with health workers from Health Department participated to make it a success. On day one i.e. 17 January 2016, 49812 children were given polio drops .For next two days the teams will be going house to house to cover un-immunized children.
