Chandigarh 16th January:- ISHRAE (Indian Society of Heating Refrigerating & Air conditioning Engineers) a  national organisation of HVAC Industry organized their premier event URJAVARAN 2015-16 Buildings For Future, today in Chandigarh.

Urjavaran 2015-16 Buildings For Future, a one day conference, involved eminent speakers and Representatives from national and international companies who discussed modern Building Design in its present shape and how they need to be practical and functional, fulfil all Aspirations and Requirements of the inhabitants and on top of that nowadays need to be the most energy efficient. This is a tall order and a real challenge for designers and architects and engineers and what the Future holds for us.

It also addressed all the issues and solutions linked to current environmental problems, as It is no secret that energy consumption in the modern world is increasing Day by day, leading to increase in Global Warming and Depletion of Natural resources and how to safeguard our planet for future generations are issues on which the world is deliberating.

Today's conference, sixth edition of 'Urjavaran' witnessed many distinguished personalities who spared their valuable time and shared their treasured opinions.  Sangeet Sharma, renowned architect, spoke about harmonizing nature with construction and building design and how aesthetic design should also mean efficient design. We should never compromise with the basic needs of typical buildings. Factors such as solar heat gain in summer, heat loss in winter, and natural ventilation in transitional seasons must be considered when designing energy-efficient residential buildings for hot summer and cold winter zones.

Ashish Rakheja, Director, Aeon systems and renowned member of ISHRAE shared his views on  " Net zero buildings" who produce their own energy to power the buildings and thus are not harming nature in any way. He also highlighted the concept of sustainable buildings; these are those buildings which consume less water, less energy, better indoor quality and use of recycled and local materials. Usually, sustainable buildings look like conventional buildings but are energy and water efficient than conventional buildings. Sustainable buildings or green buildings movement has been spread since last 15 years and now more than three billion square feet has been converted in green spaces.

Chandigarh chapter of ISHRAE has come into existence since 1996 and at present around 200 members with a sub chapter at Ludhiana with around 700 members. Urjavaran was started six years back across north India by society and this year this event is conducted at 10 different locations by various chapters & sub chapters of this society.

ISHRAE is doing exemplary work with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Govt of India in drawing up the standards for the Air conditioning industry which will replace foreign standards used by the industry soon

It also has lots of tie ups with other similar societies like ASHRAE i.e American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, which are our principal society, the Indian Green Building Council i.e IGBC, FSAI (i.e Fire Safety Association India), Indian plumbing Association, architect associations, ISLE to provide various industries which have HVAC component a suitable interface.
