Chandigarh 13th January:- Lighting of the fire in the winter solstice, the churns of popcorn and cheer among all was the sight at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management Catering and Nutrition, Sector 42 D, Chandigarh under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India as students, staff and faculty gathered around flaming fondness on Wednesday evening to rejoice the harvest festival of Lohri.
Spectacular invitation prepared in the form of Dhols, a traditional instrument used during the festival. The bonfire was lit to seek the blessings of the Sun God. The whole college faculty made their presence felt in this auspicious festival. Thereafter, the function started with speeches in English and Punjabi highlighting the relevance of Lohri, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter, followed by a series of fun filled games organized by the students along with Bhangra and Giddha folk dance performances exhibiting the rich culture of Punjab.
